University of Texas Medical Branch

Galveston, Texas

Kroll Security Group (KSG) has provided a wide range of security services for the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB).   UTMB is a major academic health center dedicated to health science education, patient care, research, and community service and occupies 85 acres and 54 major buildings on its main campus.

KSG prepared a Security System Study (Master Plan) for the entire campus.  Recommendations provided in this study are being implemented by UTMB.  A Biosafety Level (BSL) 4 Lab was completed in 2003, and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) has selected UTMB as the site of a $150 million National Biocontainment Lab (NBL), one of two large-scale national research facilities focusing on new and emerging disease threats.  KSG is currently a member of the design team for this project, now known as the Galveston National Laboratory.

KSG also evaluated available infant abduction protective system technology for UTMB to be implemented with other facility improvement projects.

Security services provided for the UTMB include:

  • Security System Study (Master Plan)
  • Infant Abduction System Product Evaluation
  • Campus Exterior Lighting Study
  • Texas Department of Criminal Justice Hospital Gate/Door
  • Control Panel Study
  • Implementation of Security System Study Recommendations
