Kroll Security Group was retained by the South Mississippi Electric Power Association (SMEPA) to provide a Security Assessment and Security Master Plan for all of their facilities.
SMEPA is a local electric generation and transmission cooperative located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. SMEPA’s facilities include headquarters facilities, natural gas and coal-fired electrical generation facilities as well as support facilities.
Primary objectives of security assessment:
- Detailed field surveys to review existing facilities
- Identify gaps in the existing security program
- Develop specific recommendations for improvements
- Benchmarked utilizing NERC and CIPC guidelines for physical, technical and operational security
- Develop Rough Area of Magnitude Budgets for implementation
Based on the results of the physical security assessments, a security master document was created to establish minimum standards for physical and electronic security systems as well as outline the required policies and procedures.
