Security Master Planning

All good security programs begin with a master plan—a vision of the security department, its roles and responsibilities, and how they fit into the overall organization.  This “big picture” approach to how security should function serves as a foundation on which each aspect of the department is then built.

Kroll's team of Security Consultants looks at security holistically in that we address all aspects of the program simultaneously to provide our clients with a cohesive security solution.  The basic elements of any program are:

  1. architectural protective measures such as barriers, locks, doors, areas of refuge, etc.
  2. operational measures relating to tenant and visitor access control, security staffing, policies and procedures, etc.
  3. technical security systems such as automated access control, alarm monitoring systems, closed circuit television, etc.

Our security plans address security from the outside in.  Using the concept of “Concentric Circles of Protection”, we plan security solutions based on varying levels of protection originating at the site perimeter, then moving toward the interior areas of a facility.  Each level of protection and/or monitoring becomes more stringent as one proceeds inward towards the center.  This concept, together with planned intervention zones provides multiple levels of protection and opportunities for response.
