National Constitution Center

The National Constitution Center (NCC) was established by Congress through the Constitution Heritage Act of 1988 as an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization. The NCC was established to increase awareness and understanding of the US Constitution, the Constitution's history, and the Constitution's relevance to our daily lives so that "We the People" will better understand and exercise our rights and our responsibilities.
The National Constitution Center is the first ever museum honoring and explaining the Constitution. The Center is located in Philadelphia on the Independence Mall, joining two of our nation's greatest symbols of freedom - Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell.
The NCC contains 160,000 square feet including galleries and 68,785 square feet of public space. The NCC offers educational programming, a study center that develops and distributes teaching tools such as lesson plans and real time lectures, a scholars-in-residence program, host events, as well as house America’s greatest treasure, The Constitution. The Center broke ground on Constitution Day, September 17, 2000 and opened July 4, 2003. Over 1 million visitors are expected to pass through its doors annually.
