One of the nation's largest facilities devoted to the art of our time, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) offers exhibitions of the most thought-provoking art created since 1945. The MCA documents contemporary visual culture through painting, sculpture, photography, video and film, and performance.
Located in a new building near the historic Water Tower in the heart of downtown Chicago, this 46 million dollar facility additionally boasts a terraced outdoor Sculpture Garden; a museum store for books and design objects; a café and special events area; a 15,000-volume art library; and the Mayer Education Center, incorporating studio-classrooms, a space suitable for symposia and performances, and a 300-seat auditorium.
