Michigan Electric Transmission Co. (METC) is a federally regulated electric transmission-only business that owns and operates more than 5,400 miles of high-voltage transmission lines in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula.  The company’s transmission assets span over two-thirds of the Lower Peninsula encompassing 61 counties and 18,800 square miles.  Service is provided on an open-access basis to and from any applicable generation or distribution company.

Kroll Security Group was retained by Ellerbe Beckett and METC to complete a Security Needs Assessment and Order of Magnitude Budget estimates, as well as programming, design development, documentation, and implementation of security systems for a new facility to be constructed in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Kroll Security Group was further contracted to complete a Security Staffing Program study in order to help the organization determine the appropriate roles and level of security staff required to safeguard METC’s people, property and assets.  The study included:

In October of 2006, METC was acquired by International Transmission Company (ITC).
