Marionjoy Rehabilitation Hospital

Wheaton, Illinois

Kroll Security Group was retained by Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital to conduct a security assessment of their facility in Wheaton, Illinois.  The scope of engagement included a Security Assessment and Master Plan Report for the facility, along with development of security system Schematic Design Drawings for the new replacement hospital.

The $57 million hospital project, completed in the fall of 2006, included a new inpatient facility and parking garage.  The replacement hospital is a 170,000 square foot building shaped in a nontraditional fashion to allow for wide open corridors and natural light.

The 120-bed hospital is the first free-standing rehabilitation hospital in the country with spacious, all-private rooms and bathrooms that are fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The rooms are designed to accommodate the patient and family with a high degree of comfort, privacy, and total consideration for patient safety.  Each floor houses separate units or “communities” focused on particular rehabilitation treatment modes such as pediatric, spinal cord injury, brain injury, and orthopedic.

The primary objective for Kroll Security Group was to recommend prudent security measures consistent with the Client’s local threat environment.
