Jacob K. Javits Convention Center

New York, New York

The Jacob K. Javits Convention Center was designed by architects Pei Cobb Freed and Partners and built in 1986.  The original Center consists of approximately 790,000 square feet of exhibition and meeting space and approximately 1.1 million square feet of support and staging areas between West 34th and West 39th Streets and from 11th to 12th Avenues in Manhattan.

On October 16, 2006 a groundbreaking ceremony was held to start construction of a two-phase expansion and renovation of the facility.  This first phase of the project consists of an expansion increasing exhibit and meeting room space to more than approximately 1.3 million square feet, thus enabling it to host virtually any convention or trade show.  Additional work/phases include a renovation of the existing facility and construction of an adjacent hotel.

The New York Convention Center Development Corporation and Empire State Development Corporation retained the Javits II Architecture, LLC, a joint venture team of Richard Rogers Partnership, FXFOWLE Architects and A. Epstein and Sons for the project.

Kroll Security Group was retained as part of the Javits II Architecture Team to provide full security system and physical security consulting services, including security design and engineering, procurement, and assistance and implementation oversight of all security systems for the project.
