Kroll Security Group developed a comprehensive security program and detailed design for the newly constructed Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta facility. The facility consisted of 1 million GSF, including an attached parking structure. The project began in 1998 and final occupancy was completed in August 2002.
This high profile facility was constructed to accommodate regional senior executives, administrative operations, remittance processing, computer operations, a museum, public meeting facilities, and regional cash processing and distribution operations, which presented many challenges from a security perspective.
Although the Federal Reserve Bank Security Guidelines documentation provided a base for physical, technical and operation security considerations, the document was dated and in many instances Kroll Security Group was required to interpret and enhance the criteria based upon the profile of the facility.
Sophisticated integrated systems inclusive of access control, alarm monitoring, CCTV surveillance and recording, and dedicated emergency communications systems were implemented with both centralized and remote monitoring and control capabilities.
Based upon the success of this project the facility is referenced as the standard for new projects being designed and considered throughout the Federal Reserve System. Kroll Security Group provided security design services during all phases of the project, including pre-design, programming, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, bid award, construction administration and post-construction activities.
