Kroll Security Group was retained by the City of Austin to provide planning, design, bid and construction management for an extensive security program upgrade project at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA).
The upgrade was structured around the FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and as such, began with an Engineering Report. The Engineering Report provided an assessment of the existing access control, alarm monitoring, video imaging, closed-circuit television (CCTV) and audio communications systems. The assessment of these systems focused on expansion, networking and integration in an effort to utilize existing infrastructure as much as possible, while utilizing integration of the many sub-systems to reduce operational staffing requirements.
The Engineering Report recommended a TCP/IP fiber backbone as the basis for communication and also included, but was not limited to digital CCTV recording, electronic anti-tailgating, and future biometric access controls. In addition, a number of architectural upgrades were addressed including guard inspection buildings on the AOA, fencing and gate requirements and vehicular anti-penetration design.
ABIA also retained Kroll Security Group to provide design and implementation services for a new secondary Security Operations Center.
